Right now I love the way my Scrambler is running, but there is always the need for more right? I was thinking about rebuilding the top-end this winter and porting is the next step in my engine modding.

Besides removing the cylinder and sending it away, what else needs to be done? Is the cylinder bored to match the new piston? I am running a high compression head right now so modding the stock one will not be needed. Will I need a bigger carb or is boring the stock one "good enough"?

Most likly I will send it to RCR for porting. Any suggestion? What has worked well for you?

Iwent with RCR porting myself. The best thing to do is call Rick and tell him exactly what kind of riding you will be doing and what kind of performance you are looking for. He will not sell you something you do not need. Rick will make sure you get what you want. He has the best service of anybody out there. When my cylinder was finished he called me at 8 oclock at night to see if I needed anything else. He will talk to you at any time if you have any problems. He is a super nice guy.

Adam,

I too went with RCR porting. Yes, the cylinder is bored for the new piston. Rick will also save you the trouble of having a melt down. He stocks Swaintech coated Wiseco pistons. Get one!!!! I can't say enough good about them. I would suggest a new carb too. The 39mm PWK Kehin flows the best and is probably the most predictable on the market.

Also get another carb, if for nothing else, you will know its designed to flow the right ammount of air and fuel. When you get that far from stock, jetting can get a little finicky.
