myscrambler,

I've taken the one out of my trailblazer twice so I should know. I'll u do is take off the sprocket and the rear brake and the brake disc. For the brake dont take the bolt out that holds the brake around the carrior just loosen it, take the 2 bolts on top of the brake thing. And it should just come off and just set it on top of the swingarm. You can get the sprocket off without taking the guard off. Loosen the back bolts and take them out, the ones that u have to loosen to tighten or loosen the chain. so u can take the chain off. After u take off the sprocket and the brake and the disc there is a housing thing over the big nuts on each side of the carrior. They are held on by an o-ring on each side. Take the o-ring off and the housing over the nut should come right off. loosen the nut on one side or since your putting a new axle on takem both off. Watch though they are pretty tight. Me and my dad used a pipe wrench on each side to take the nuts off. And the axle should slide right out. Hope you can understand the directions if you don't get it out post it and mabe I could tell you whats wrong or whatever. Hope this helps. Oh take the tires and the hub off first! LOL

I have the cover over the big nut off on one side but it will not budge off of the right side. Well it seems I am doing it right but the one cover is stopping me. I have been out there for over three hours pounding on it with no luck. Thanks for replying so at least I know I am heading in the right direction. How did you get the covers off, just slide them???

Thanks again,

My Scrambler sorry for the weit. Mine just came right off. Try a screwdriver and a hammer that might work. You can still take the axle out if u just take the one side off and the nut and it will slide out and then maybe u could get the housing thing over the nut off.
