i just purchased a brand new scrambler 500 4x4 and i love it to death...except for the fact that after i ride it for ten minuts it starts sounding funny in the engin and after another few minuts it starts smoking and smeeling like updog???????

if you have any suggestions plz wright back

 

Did you or your dealer put to much oil in the gas tank for break in.

 

No no it smells like UPDOG!!!???!!!

This is a new machine, no? Take it to the dealer for warranty. The 500 HO engine is a 4 stroke so should not be smoking. Like I said it's time to visit the dealer.

 

What is updog?

 

sounding funny in the engine?,is the quad alright checked by the dealer? the 4 stroke engine doens't smoke when hot,they only smell (and smell not too much) when cold started,check up your fluids...

 

i wonder if this is a real problem.

Maybe im just reading too much into it. haha

 

My Sportsman really worried me when I first bought it.When my H.O. was brand new it took a little while to burn the new off it. It smelled funny and smoked a little, engine started pecking after warm up.. The engine has always made noise (rattling sounds)seems to be the nature of the 500 H.O.I now have 1700 miles on it and it still makes rattling sounds.I noticed when I rev the engine some of the rattle is coming from where the header pipe springs hold header to the head.Probably isn't nothing but I'd take it back to dealer just to be safe.

 

My guess is he is joking also, but when I seen that a couple of people had replied without asking, I figured maybe it really meant something. Pretty funny.
