I have a 1006 Xplorer 400 4x4. The 4wd wont work. It will work SOMETIMES in reverse but not when u need it. It has only worked foreward oncer since I have qwned it. We have 6 volts coming 2 the AWD switch but I don't know if the hubs are 6 volt or 12 volt. If somebody could give me this information if would be greatly appreaciated. I can feed 12 volts directily 2 the hubs and put a switch 2 turn it off or on if they are 12 volt hubs. I also have heard that the battery can effect it. I am going to put a new battery on it and see what happens but if u have ANY advice on what the problem might be please HELP!!

Not sure about the voltage thing. I had a similar problem, sometimes the AWD light would come on when I wiggled the shift selector.

What I found was that after taking the shifter box open & inspecting the switch, the contacts where dirty & needed reshaping back to it's original shapes. Haven't had a problem since.

Hope this helps.

The hubs should be getting 12 volts. If they aren't, trace the wire back to where the voltage drops. Most likely, there will be a dirty switch, bad connector, or such.
Also, don't forget the obvious. Check the battery and connections, be sure thay are clean, too.
