I would like to get more performance out of my 2000 Scrambler 500 4x4. I mostly do a lot of fast trail riding and go down some dirt rodes at top speed. My friend has a stock DS650 and I would like to be able to keep up with him a little easier. I figure that it would be better to get a complete kit rather than one part hear and another part there because most performance parts work best when combined with other performance parts. I would like to know what is the best kit for me for the best price? I would like a complete bolt on kit (at least a pipe, silencer, spark arrestor, air filter, and carb rejet). Which one makes the best performance gains? How much better acceleration and top end do you get?

If you want peak performance, call up HPD: site provided by Biggin and tell them what you want to do. They could make up a list of mods for you all by HPD. They will help you with pricing too.

If you want better performance from the 500 motor, see Four Stroke Tech. They have kits that will bump up the displacement from 500 to 600-628. I hate to say this, but that is the ONLY way to get more power from your machine shy of what scrambansheeman said.

Has anybody actually seen in action or rode a Scrambler with the FST Big Bore kit installed?

I haven't seen or heard one run, but from my talk with Todd Ribblet (runs in the GNCC UU class) it will beat 400 Scramblers (Sports, 400 Trailblazers etc), yes even modified ones. That I would have to see with my own eyes to believe, but it is still the only way to get horsepower from the 500 Fujis. The 628 kit has a longer stroke than the 600 kit. According to both Mickey Dunlap and Todd, no clutch kit is needed for either the big bore motor kit.
