It happened again, just driving along, all of a sudden, speedo died. After I stopped to check it out, starter dead too. Will start via the rope, but AWD dead as well. Under the seat, I think theres a solenoid or relay that clicks every 10 seconds with the run switch on, but otherwise, all power is out! Anybody ever have this problem? Just add this to the list of things that have gone wrong with SWAC's 3 month old Y2K Sportsman 500. So when do the 2001 models come out, hehehe, time to trade in.....

Sounds like you have a circut breaker trying to reset itself. Track down the clicking, and follow the wires looking for breaks in the wire and places were the insulation has been damaged.

I would just like to help anyone out there having trouble with polaris atv's to take a step in the right direction, and buy something reliable.I have owned a new polaris sportsman, and it was nothing but broke down constantly for the 6 months I owned it.I wrote polaris and they would do nothing about it,the same as bristow's{the @#%*& dealer I bought it from}would also do absolutely nothing about it but try to screw me out of more hard earned money!!I gave them the option of trading on another since everyone said I had a lemon. They wouldn't give me squat for their own piece of $h*% that they had sold me!!I know of more people having nothing but problems with polaris that have finally gotten smart and now are happy with their new wheeler!
