EBS on Scrambler info?
#1
I have been looking into buying a Scrammy sometime soon.
The one thing that bothers me is that there is NO EBS system on it stock.
(I'm just going to use it for trail riding - no racing or MX stuff)
First of all, how does the Scrammy do without an EBS on long downhill decents?
I've heard people complain bitterly about the Sportsman not having 4 wheel EBS- but now the Scram would have 0 wheel EBS.... how bad is that?
Anyone put an EBS kit on the Scrammy? How do you like it?
I don't want to go down hills with white knuckles....

Hello Herb,
I've looked for EBS for my scrambler too. Those I saw recommended against ebs on a scrambler. I believe it's because there is no low. Not too sure on that last part, but sure about it not being recommended. When I'm going down a steep hill, I feather my throttle just a little to keep it engaged. Some sort of ebs would be nice though.

EBS? Does this mean Engine Break System? or something like that? Kind ofl ike compression breaking on a car? Why would you want to do this? Dont you have breaks? The extra strain on the engine is worse than putting the extra strain on the breaks. I would rather replace break pads than an engine. I dont even know what EBS is, so I am just speaking from what I "think" it is... am i wrong?

I don't think ebs is a good idea..
the scrammy does very well with out it.
ebs makes your intial gear ratio taller (like pulling out from a stop in second gear in a car.
ebs has a fairly high failure rate compared to a regular non ebs clutch.
and ebs is very expensive at like $400, plus you would need a custom helix for your secondary to work with the scrammy.

Hey folks, thanks for all the replies... muchly appreciated.
M3KGT: Yes, EBS is engine braking system.
I'm glad that some of you don't feel EBS is necessary on the Scrammy.
So, y'all find that the brakes do a decent job on long steep downhill decents. Good to know.
It's also good to know that EBS clutches wear quick than non-EBS.... since I'm not too keen on replacing clutches frequently.
You guys here are a lot of good info. Thanks.

If you want EBS "effect" change your secondary clutch setting to 1to1. Your tranny will stay connected up better even going down hill. Plus you will have better up shifting.Put a heelclicker clutch kit in it and you"ll have one mean machine. Kicking butt with your tranny connected up were you will be in control instead of wareing out your brakes. Polaris race team uses them. They don't use the other kits. That should say something.

Pardon my ignorance here... I'm new to this. I didn't know that the stock clutches have "settings".
What do these settings do? Change the gearing ratio or what?
What other effect does changing this setting have?
WHy does it improve shifting?
I'm gradually learning.
Thanks guys, I appreciate your help.
