I found a dealer with a Sportsman 500 X for $6300.00. What do you polaris guys think, good price or not. I just sold my Prarie 650 and looking for a IRS machine. It has good tires, winch and looks good and it is a 02 leftover so it's new not used. I can also get a 500HO for $5800 and a 400 for $5000. Prices sound good to me but you guys would know better since I never owned a Polaris before. Thanx for any replies.

I think it is a great price for the SPORTSMAN X with the winch and all,if you bought a regular 500 HO and added a winch like the SPORTSMAN X has on it I think you would spend way over $500.00 bucks for the 2500# winch and the multi mount winch bracket plus to have it installed by the dealer wouldnt be cheap.I think the 500 X SPORTSMANS are few and far between I would jump all over the $6300.00 SPORTSMAN X,I have a 2002 yellow SPORTSMAN 500 with a winch and lots of goodies that cost me way over $6300 and I had to install all the crap myself, but if I had my choice of the two I would get the SPORTSMAN X.

Ya MT, I am looking for better ground clearence. I have nothing bad to say about the Prarie, it's a great bike but I need a higher bike so I have been looking at Polaris's and Arctic Cat's. Plus I don't need all that power so I am going to downsize to a 400 to 500 range bike and hope to save a few bucks while I am at it. Thanx all for the replies.

just my 2 cents,
get those Polaris rubber spacers and put in 2 sets in each front spring. it helps eliminate a soft front end and increases side-to-side stability. plus it makes a BIG difference with a plow or installing larger aftermarket tires.
i'm very close to buying a 500 myself. it's between the Rubi and the Sportsman. i posted a thread on the Honda forum trying to get an idea of what a good price would be for a '03 Rubi, but i only got one response! oh well

That is an excellent price! Grab it. I have had a Sportsman for the last two years and LOVE the machine. I ride with a little of everything (including a Kawi 650) and the Sportsman is the best mudder due to incredible ground clearance. I totaled my first one by rolling it end over end 6 times down a hill. Other than that, no prblem at all. We have four Sportsman 500s in the family and they have all been good machines.

I would jump on that deal RIGHT NOW!!! Don't give dealer time to change his mind. There's a local dealer near me in Charleston, Illinois that's going to be selling Sp700's for $5988, 500 H.O. for $4988 and the 400's for $4999. His advertisement in a local paper is one day only sale on Aug. 17. First come, first serve. I'm thinking about driving down and see what the "catch" is on these prices.
