Polaris Sport starter

inside the pull-start side of the motor is a starter bendix. Basically a couple of gears with a spring. Sometimes you can buy time by getting in there and spraying it down with lube. Especially if you haven't normally dropped the drainplug under the pull-start side of the motor. You can remove the bolts from that side of the motor. I use the "broken hockey stick" method, but I don't have an airbox so accessing in from under the seat is easier for me. Basically with all the bolts out, I line up da schtick with a protruding ear on the cover, and give 'er a rap. Once open, you can kinda reach around a get a good look. I do believe you have to pull the flywheel if you want it out...could be wrong, mines been milled for a while...and the starter is out also.
Good Luck,
Ken

Exactly right Ken, have to pull the flywheel to get the bendix out.The white lithium spray lube works excellent for drive units like that. I usually clean with a quick drying spray first like carb or brake cleaner. Otta get you going,Bubba
