Lets all remember one thing who sells the most atv's each year, HONDA! Polaris is still #2 and will most likely be second only to Honda. Yes polaris has good auto's but lets be real how many actual manual shift atvs does polaris make? 2 maybe. Hey Polaris guys when you are in a tight technical riding situation that requires "fethering" the cluch, how do you like your auto then? Oh I'm sorry I'm just stuck on my race "old" 250R with my narrow power band. I guess I never slow down enough or grow old enough to ride a auto tranny, yes the honda guys foung this post. Please have a good laugh when you read this cause I was laughing when I first read this post. See ya all later.

Ya know.... Polaris leads the way in trying new things.. going off the beaten path, pushing different ideas... and Honda lays around thinking.. Our Name will sell it all..
I don't know about the rest of the world.. but here in East Texas and North Louisania... things seem to be changing.. I am a fan of both Polaris and Honda... Polaris for innovation, different models, and just better machines for MY style of driving and thinking...
Honda because YES.. for the most part, they are reliable machine.. Although It seems that Honda has sacrificed WAY too much performance and innovation just to protect the reliability.. It shows too...
Karnack mudrun last year was a Polaris-Honda majority with the edge going to Honda.. but this year... It was most DEFINITELY a Polaris majority.. Before anybody says it.. I saw about equal amounts of busted, broke, destroyed, crapped out, died out, won't start, won't stop, "I'm stuck please help me" machines out there...
Anyway, the tide is changing..
I can't believe that Honda STILL doesn't think that people want a 2wd/4wd option.. And they seem to be running WAY too late on the 500cc Utility class... Yamaha is at 600cc (although its oil cooled) Polaris has rumors flying about a possible 600-650cc Sportsman..
Anyway.. just fuel to the fire I guess..

If the "other red machines" are so great, how come their 1/2 of sport quads can't even back up under their own power? At least on a 400 Scrambler you can back out of the garage.... Do I want to push a $ 5,000.00 quad every I want to back up.... I DON'T THINK SO !!!!!

Polaris sells more auto tranny quads than all the other manufactures COMBINED.If the auto tranny were that bad, they would'nt have such a large selling volume.Honda is so far behind inovative features, that it seems like their models dont change for yrs at a time.I would by a Honda in a second if they offered more ground clearance, auto trans, switchable 2wd-4wd,liquid cooled, a better suspension,AND DISK brakes. But until than,im going to buy who has what I like,Polaris.====BILL

Ok... disc. are better.. thats getting old..
may be some different wood for that fire..
Since the 1 st wheel was invented, mankind has wanted it to go faster, further and be Bigger.Where does this lead us?
In this weekends news snowmobiliers were clocked at 108 mph on bare ice.Of course MN DNR. was there to ticket. In Wisc. there were 38 deaths on snowmobile trails. My next question is do we get so big (HP) and so fast (Banshee) that the public has a big uproar and shuts us down... much like the 3 wheelers !
when 4 wheelers 1st came out 40 mph. seemd Fast.
Maybe thats why Honda keeps its Quads a little slower .... May be they fear the legal fallout..
They were TOASTED (un fairly) with the 3 wheelers
any comments?
JUST HAVIN"N FUN...BILL

We are all still paying the price for those three wheeler accidents. All because of a few idiot riders who have gotten injuried on them.It only takes a few injuries to open a can of worms, and you all know what I mean.Bill, im not so sure Honda keeps their speed down because of legal fallout either.I mean, hell you can get hurt just as bad doing 40mph as you can doing 60mph.Im headed up North tommorrow to put a few open miles on the new 00 Xplorer. It used to be totally legal to ride the Forest lands and back roads of Michigan until Law makers banned it in 1991.[thank you 3 wheeler injuries]Now we can only ride on a few DESIGNATED trails.Where im riding at tommorrow is prohibited.Do I give a rats ***?No.I pay State taxes and there is no reason to allow snowmobilers/hikers/hunters/ and motorcycles the right to ride or travel our Forest lands and not quad owners.I will run at the sight of a DNR officer if I think I can out manuver him in the woods because I think the law is SO unfair. If I dont think I should run, than Mr DNR and I are gonna have a argument over how I feel about my land being taken away from just quads. [ I just noticed that this post is a little off topic]BUT MAN IM PISSED.=====BILL

Hey Bill...
A pissed off man is an activist...Just do it positive!! Our DNR (MN.) has pretty good riders on quads... its hard to outrun radio waves..
One of my comments is about Hondas williness and ability to produce FAST Quads.I do believe they have the technology to do so but CHOOSE not to.
Hondas main theme..you meet the nicest people on a Honda..shows they are trying to dispell the notion of drunken idiots ruining the enviroment.
Imagine the look on their lawyer's faces on Mon. morning after a weekend of 500,600cc machine crashing and killing people.I really gotta believe that"s why most of their bigger machines are called "utility" instead of "sport" or scrambler, or Banshee. The names Foreman, Rancher, don"t say "speed" but implie intented usage.
Hondas seems to be catering to the "family" market more than to the "sport" crowd.
Just a ramblin"...Bill
