Green with envy

How come most of the mine is better than yours goes on with Honda owners? Polaris was the first automatic then along comes Kawa.Yamaha, Suziki, and now mighty Honda. True the Honda is some kind of Hydraststic tranny. But Polaris led and the rest followed slowly but surely. But most of the bashing comes from Honda oweners,we bash you too I admit its fun.
But at work all I hear is i would rather change gears, truth is most of them cant drive a car thats a straight drive, but on there 4wheeler they would rather change gears. Thats fine to each his own.
But I will predict that the Rubicon will sale like crazy but forgive us Polaris guys because we would rather the original Automatic. And if you want to see an over enginered 3wd quad it comes out in may so they say.
How many of you will suddenly decide to stop changing gears. Hondas are good quads but except for you guys riding full out race or sport quads you utility riders your full of envy.
Wonder what this will start.

Agree. One thing you will hear many of the none auto riders say is that they would rather shift gears. Now you see tons of people saying they want the Rubicon when it comes out. And what is one of the things they like best? The auto. Lets wait and see if people (especially Honda utility owners) still complain as much about auto trannies.

Before one of those Honda guys gets a hold of this one, didnt Honda actually pioneer the belt drive automatic on their Oydessey? Ive often wondered why they didnt carry that over to the quads.
And as far as shifting goes, Id rather own a Polaris AND shift gears.

A better question.. why did Polaris introduce the "shifter" if your "AUTO" IS SO SUPERIOR??
ANSWER ; POLARIS could"nt stand to see all the people buying other brands with shifters!
Green IS THE COLOR OF Money!!!!
Honda Knew way back when that auto, belt drive, chain was not the most eff. ,economical ,or durable system . History and sales figures will support my claims!!
YOU GUYS LEAD ..I'LL FOLLOW AND MISS THE BAD STUFF
WATCH OUT FOR THAT CLIFF !!

Bill, I think the answer to the question you pose is that Polaris wanted to appeal to people like me, people that like Polaris features but were afraid of belt drive problems. If Honda offered a model with 4wheel/2wheel switch I probably would have bought one before I found out about the Xpedition.
As far as belt drives go, I think they are getting much better. I have friends who have had zero problems with the belt drive on Polaris quads, and I aint talking about pokey old men, they ride hard! Then again, on this forum, I still hear of belt problems. But, I think Polaris sales figures prove that there is a market for automatic ATVs.
For every positive, there is a negative, everyone should remember that whether their looking for a quad, a truck, a toaster, or a wife!
