The reason so many polaris's are selling is because of people having problems with them, price, where I'm from they're cheaper, thats why whenever an auction around here is selling them,it's almost all polaris's that are selling.Look in the classifieds, the polaris's easily outnumber any other make every time. They don't hold their value well either. My eyes are WIDE OPEN.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that polaris quads are hard to work on.They are covered in plastic, and everything is hard to get to.Look at a Honda or Yamaha, you see engine and frames on most models, easy access,if needed.I had to change the spark plug on my 96 sportsman at least 6 times, and it was a pain in the a$$!polaris has a wad of wires up front, under the handle bars if memory serves me correctly, that looks like a squirrels nest! That is just not necessary on a Quad if you ask me.With all that wiring you would think you could run all three headlights on the polaris.

Yes Bill I do work at a Polaris dealership and drive a Yamaha. Is there anything wrong with that?Just because I drive a Yamaha you mean I have to fix them for a living? The job was available at the time I was looking. If Polaris built a RELIABLE bike that I liked I would porbably own one. BUT THEY DONT. Seems to me your bike is a 2000 model 2 stroke . You'll find out soon enough what trouble they can give.Buy that spare piston now cause youre gonna need it. But seeing that you were the president of GM you think you could afford something a little better then a polaris!!!! You guys are a too little narrow minded for me, you wont hear anymore of my opinions here. I'll go back to the Yamaha forum where everyone treats each other like equals.

Have you ever seen a 2000 Kodiak talk about hide the motor but so what. Just take off a seat and side cover a wala there's yours spark plug on a Sportsman it takes a hole 30 seconds to take them off.People who have a hard time changing a plug on the Sportman must not even grease the bike either now I understand why I don't have all these promblems.

I've been in the market for an ATV for several months. Recently found a dealer I like in central Utah that sells Polaris, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Honda. I don't know much about ATVs that's why I enjoy these forums; but I got to tell ya, the salesman (co-owner and a mechanic) was reluctant to sell me on the 425 xpedition (I was in the market for a larger machine with manual trans.). He said that i live too far from town and that if I bought a Polaris, I would be bringing it back soon. I've never worked on an ATV nor have I seen any actual statistics on reliability. But he, and others in the ATV business in this region, convinced me, I bought something else (Suzuki 500Qrunner). One young mechanic told me that Polaris focuses on performance and that in the next few years, the reliability would probably catch up (?) Just sharing my experience.

Well I was going to leave this alone but after some of the comments on Polaris machines being diffucult to work on I can't. . All you Forum Veterans know that I have been working on Quads since the eighties and I have worked on virtually all of them. I am primarilly a Honda mechanic but I can honestly say that from my experience the Polaris machines are the absolute bar none easiest Quads to work on on the market. This is just to me some of these other guys may not have the expeirience on them that I have but I personally find them really simple to understand and service even a major job is not that big a deal. I have done the Trans job that was spoken of in an earlier post. I have pulled these Transmissions out of the frame in an hour and had them split before another hour went by. Chilton might give you 10 hours in the book but thats for the slow guys. You want a difficult Quad to work on. Tear into the transmission on a Foreman 400.

Grease the machine,oh ya,thats right, how many grease zerks are on that polaris.I hope you don't go through spark plugs like my old polaris,or is this how you figured out the best way of doing this The wheelers I've seen you don't have to disassemble to change a plug, but they're all 4 strokes that don't require much of any maintenance.

Brother. I have come to the fact that you have had your pant's blown off by a Grizzly and you are mad. Cool down. And remember all quads are built for different purposes. My Grizzly was built for so many different purposes i can't fit them on this screen. In my case it's the best machine for any person!!
