As the subject asks, when will we expect the newest crop of Polaris machines to hit the dealerships. Gotta make plans to trade mine in and start thinking bout what color I want this time, Yellow maybe? Maybe not, yellow is lemon color, and mine may be red on the outside, but so far its been nothing but lemon yellow inside.

I still don't know, but my selling dealer will gladly trade my 4 month old Sportsman in for another 2000 500 Sportsman for the low sum of $2500.00 Canadian. Not bad dummy, thats $1700.00 US worth of use in 4 months, of which I used it for 3 months because the rest of the time it was in the shop. Add the 1000.00 worth of new A arms and axles, such a deal. Anyone want to pass on any get rich quick schemes besides selling drugs?

SWAC,
The dealer here in Ottawa assigns $800 per model year for depreciation. If the quad has normal expected wear and tear, this is the number he uses.
I still have not picked up my new 2000 model Sportsman. I have been waiting for winter to finish so that I can give the new machine an easy engine break-in on hard packed trails. Still have not decided if we will keep the '98 (and have 2 Sportsman's) or trade it. It is an excellent machine. Would like to keep it but $$ aren't unlimited at this end. If I trade it, the 2000 model will cost me $1600.
Agree with the other poster, used machines are hard to find. They disappear instantly here in Ottawa. Polaris is very popular here. I have yet to see a used Sportsman in the paper.
