A lot of people tell me I should get a Xpedition 425. My question is do they have as much trouble as other Polaris automatics? If you have on then how much did you pay for it and where do you live

I haven't had any trouble whatsoever. 'Course, I don't ride as much as I used to ride the Honda that I had. I hope to get riding more as the weather and hunting season allows. I don't know about the "other automatics", but this manual transmission is what I waited for Polaris to build. Love the ride. I believe I paid about $5900 and got a free winch. (They were out of wenches, hehehehe).

Other Polaris automatics have no problems...except for one...they are hard to keep up with!

I do not own one but, I'm looking into buying one myself. I read a review in 4-WHEEL ATV ACTION magazine a few months ago and they raved about it. They said throughout their tests it performed outstanding in every situation they put it through. At one point they suggested that it was "dare we say" more fun to ride than the scramblers. Here in Minnesota I've seen them for $5300 with free winch until April 31st. There is also a review on this site. Look under -quad reviews- Polaris Expedition 425 then at the bottom click Y2K's.

I've owned the Xpedition since last June. Everytime I get out on it I like it more. For my type of riding, it's the best of both worlds. The AWD is awesome. In low gear, this quad will lock the hubs instantly, with no noticable slippage, and crawl over rocks and logs. I just went out to a trail that me and a buddy broke last fall through a bunch of brush and downed trees. I was disappointed to see a well used trail going around the brush at the beginning. But at the first downed tree there was a well used turnaround. As I idled over it I saw where 1 tire had been diggin' on the other side. From there on out, I never saw another track. I'm sure rider experience has alot to do with negotiating obstacles, but that was one of the smaller trees. Alot are bigger, off camber with bad approach angles. There is no doubt in my mind that anything other than true AWD would not find this particular trail as enjoyable as I do. At least so far they haven't. hehe As far as hill climbing. If I can't get enough speed and traction in 2nd to pull it. I probably shouldn't have been trying it anyway. JMO
I think you'll be happy with any of the Polaris 4x4's. I really like my buddy's RSE Sportsman. It rides like my old 22ft 1968 Cadillac.
Good luck on your purchase
Brian

I have had my Expedition since November. I have about 375 miles on it. It is still stock. Most of the time we ride mud. It does good in mud and the true 4wd works well. It might not have the ground clearance at the rear axle like some other bikes of same size, but I can keep up with them in mud unless their bike has mods to it(mostly bigger tires and lift kit). The only problem I have had on my Expedition is the front tie-rod ends. They were replaced under warranty. The mechanic told me that Polaris had a problem with most of thier tie-rod ends on all their bikes made at a certain time. Polaris is replacing the worn ends with a heavy duty type end though. Hoped this helped you.

I have had my expedition 425 cc 5 speed since last may. I like it allot. Im going to buy 26 inch mud bugs by maxxis and alluminum rims this spring. I expect the machine will even be better than now, and its good now. its a good polaris atv.
