I have been told not to use the foot brake. Why? what could it hurt? I ride were there are some steep hills, useing the rear brake only would make going down feel safer.

It's only designed to be an auxilary brake. It does'nt hurt to use it occasionally.

Mine never worked, when I split my brakes for independant front/rear, I removed the entire foot system and threw it away.

I've been wanting to get the spit brake kit. Did you get the additional mater cylinder, did you use the orig? I herd that if you use the one one the quad now, that your rear brakes will feel mushy. Bottom line would you buy them again? Do you recommend them? I'm planing on getting a RCR kit in April, the brake kit this summer, if its worth it. thanks

I Disconected my rears brake because I kept standing on it without knowing it while riding and wore the back pads off.I find the one lever with it's 60% 40% front, back power split works fine for me.

You should not have any problems using it.

Most of the advice not to use the rear brake refers to the older *non concentric drive* machines where the brake when used with the foot was completely mechanical and quickly went out of adjustment.
