Default SILENCERS!!

Now that i cant ride because i tore up my knees last weekend riding, I need To change the silencer that i just got with the HPD pipe. My wife wants to drive my son around till i get better. She wont even get on it cuz it is too loud. What is a good, not expensive, quiter silencer that will go with the HPD pipe? Is a FMF powercoreII a good one? I have heard alot of good things about the FMF silencer.Anymore ideas would be great.

The turbine core II is a pretty good silencer.

I know MODQUAD has been doing some testing and has gotten down to like 96DB.

He is gone to Silver Lake over the weekend . I am sure he will have some input.

You probably already know, but HPD has MSA spark arrester silencer 93d. and MTquiet designed for 90d. How are you going to get a silencer out of FMF when they don't make one, get the same part # as the Scrambler? the HotSeat silencer is pretty quiet My friend has one on his Scrambler.

go for the HPD quiet package silencer, the db number will slow down to 90 probably, the new hot seat one is pretty cool too.

The FMF turbine coreII is not too bad. It is what I use on my scrambler. It is certainly louder than stock.

(Stock), that might be the ticket for you. See if you can get a Stock 400 scilencer. It will be more restrictive

but the wife isn't looking for power. Look on E bay. I always see them there.

I believe HPD make their TB pipe so it will except any silencer that a scrambler will.

I have not heard a new hot seat silencer. I know that there old one was LOUD. My wifes 400 has a hot seat pipe with the stock OE silencer for that very reason . TOO LOUD

Any silencer from a scrambler would fit my TB with the HPD pipe? I know that they are both set up the same but would it hurt any hp being that they are made for scramblers?

I don't believe it would hurt anything, It will be more restrictive (thus less noise)

Yes you will loose some Hourse Power, but overall should be fine. If you have a stock 400 silencer or have access to one try it out, You may have to Jet down a little if it is running rich.

I was looking at the stock silencers and they are more expensive than aftermarket ones. Looks like fmf is the way to go .

I'm presently running the MTQ HPD unit with two "qieting" bands on the outside. This unit doesn't have a spark arrestor (been bugging Darrell about one)but at 3000 rpm it's around 98db. Pretty quiet at idle. The FMF Turbine Core II is about the same db as the newer Hot Seat silencer....both of these have spark arrestors. You'd think the added "restrictions" of the spark arrestor would translate into quieter exhaust. They left me alone at Silver Lake this weekend. Didn't even test the DB's and also didn't even stick anything up the pipe to test a "custom" spark arrestor....hehe, I didn't do it, you can't prove it....and I won't do it again (is that self incrimination?)
