The change actually happened in 2000 model year.
The 2003 Trailblazer now has the sam suspension (250 and 400)
The lower shock mount on the swing arm is changed. You would have to buy a 2000 or latter swing arm and Fox shock. Pretty costly. The 2000 swing arm looks like it might be lighter also. (MORE HOLES IN IT)
I know what you are saying though. I have a 99 and a 2000 model.
The 2000 sure rides nicer. If you look the spring it is 2 piece and the top spring is what gives that cush that the 99 and previous models does not have.

Thanks for the help guys.
Bubahyde,
Which big bore kit do you have(440 or 470)? I want to eventually do the 470 big bore. Does this make a tremendous difference in power? What about top end speed. I want it to just about scare me.
Right now I have Aaen parts(top end pipe+silencer, k+n filter, Rad Valve+reeds, and a roller clutch). It goes pretty good now, but gets spanked by my friends raptor(stightly modded).
Any opinions would be great!
Colin

I have the 440 kit (Stage 4) . I am sure the 470 would be incredible. My top end is not all that incredible. It does get you there real quick. The 4x4 adds alot of weight, weight kills top end.
When I was at silver lake in September I could take raptors in drags but they came back buy on top, (Race was over by then)
The big bore really restrores that Low end that you loose with the top end pipe. I don't know if I like the AAEN pipe, I think I am going to try an HPD trail pipe. I won't go with a race pipe because I am not all that concered with top end, ITS A 4X4. All in all I am very pleased. It does everything I want it to do.
I would say my 2000 with the Hot Seat Kit would be about the same as your AAEN kit. There is a big difference between my 99 and 2000. I am pulling at least 100Lbs on the wife and can barely take her in a race. Put her on my 99 and she take me by A LOT. A LOT start to finish.
