Have narrowed my choice to a magnum 330 mostly because of money and the polaris has everything I want . Automatic, selectable 2 and 4 wheel drive, hi and lo, size ect. But have been reading in the forums its mostly women and kids that have this size. I just want something to ride the backwoods and trails for hunting and possible lite snow removal. I will be staying out of ponds and mud pits. I want to go out in the early spring when there is still patches of snow and wet areas . Areas too soft for a toyota 4x4 unless you don't mind winching. I really could use your input!

i think it's a MAN's machine! HELL YEA!
just look at that Mossy-Oak Edition! if that ain't a MAN's ATV, then i don't know what is!
go for it!
my first ATV that got me hooked on Polaris was the '95 Magnum 425! one TOUGH ATV! in fact, it's still in the family.....running great!

They have boosted the power a little, but the small engined Polaris are just not in the "big dog's club".
It is a very capable machine, sure footed, great handling and suspension, fun to ride, very solid and dependable, but not quick, and not fast.
..... One other consideration in the same price bracket, with more power is the Suzuki Eiger. The Eiger is a big machine, like the Polaris, available with automatic or manual 5 speed w dual range. You should have a look.
.....My pick in the Polaris 330 lineup is the Trail Boss. This is the model for the wife and kids. It is not 4-wheel drive and doesn't even have a low range or shaft drive like the Magnums do, but it weighs so much less that it has considerably more performance. When you start adding 4x4 and shaft drive and all that, you really need to put a bigger motor in it too.
......As long as you don't get a "need for speed", you will be fine with the new 330 Magnum 4x4.
....My first quad was a 325 Magnum 2x4, I thought it was all I'd ever need.... 7 quads later I am exactly double the displacement with my 650 Baja.

The 330 magnum would be perfect for what you described. If you just want to cruise then this is the machine. I have a 325 magnum. I just got back from hatfield and mccoy trail system. The 325 would pull me up all the mountains in high. I weight 375 pounds. So it performed great. But as posted above, it is not a speed demon. It is kinda quick to about 20 mph and then climbs to about 40 mph. This machine does not revv fast. It is not capable of doing a wheelie. The machine is not a thrill to ride, but great for what you want to do. It will mud and it will pull a big load. The motor has alot of torque.

I agree that the Trail Boss is the pick. Easy to maintain and have had no mechanical problems. It is not a sport machine but on tight trails with lots of hills to climb, I have been able to stay fairly close to my brother-in-law on his Scrambler 500. He leaves me far behind on the straights, but I can maneuver through the tight stuff just as quickly. Have even been able to make some small jumps and have not found a hill yet that it could not climb (except for those hills that I see the guys on the big machines crashing on). Great quad at a great price.
