Default 700 leaker question

I have an 03 Sp 700. I bought it new and it has 8.3 hours and 42 miles on it. It started leaking around the water pump this past week on a hunting trip. It is not a bad leak (like puking coolant like some I have seen) but it is leaking none the less. I called my dealer and he said to bring it down and that he has the new cover/bracket for it. My question is how many of you guys that have had leakers and had the new cover put on have had the new cover leak? I hate to have spent $7000 on something that cannot be fixed. Other than that....this thing rocks!

You probably saw my post right below yours but I just had the new cover put on last week and it leaks just like the original one did. I am going into Vegas tomorrow and will talk to a couple of different dealers to see if maybe there is a Polaris mechanic that I can get to fix this thing.

I believe that for most people who get theres replaced it resolves the issue. Dont let one guy scare ya. I have an 03 with 120 miles with no problems but its from the later man. date.

Default 700 leaker question

UPSman,
the new bracket WORKS!
both my '02 700 AND '03 700 were leakers. the dealer fixed them both on the first visit. on problems since.

iweb,
there are two different things that caused the water pump leaks. when the water pump is off, the dealer is supposed to check some inner ceramic like thing for defects. one of mine needed it, the other didn't. more than likely your dealer didn't check for the other defect when they had it apart. you might want to try another dealer that is well informed!

anyways, i also love my 700. last weekend one of my friends (a Yamaha loyalist) asked to ride my 700 'to check it out'........and he couldn't believe the awesome POWER and civilized plush RIDE it gave. i think he's actually concidering buying one!

i think Polaris really hit the mark when they came out with the 700/600s. to date, i think the quality and reliability is top-notch and there are A LOT of very satisfied 700/600 owners out there............i'm one of them.

i've got today off!.......and i'm going riding!

see-ya,

Default 700 leaker question

Quick question!

I bought my 700SP used (70 hrs) and it was a leaker as well. He temporarily fixed it himself using that silicone gasket maker stuff and it hasnt leaked yet. Ive put on about 10hrs so far and keeping a close eye on my coolant level everythng seems to be ok so far. What shld I do? Shld I wait till it leaks again? Will the dealer fix it even tho I have no warranty? The guy I bought it from seems to think the dealer wld fix it even tho no formal recall has been issued, true or false? Im pretty handy so I was thinking about calling the dealer and asking them if they wld just gimme the bracket/cover/gasket and lemme fix it myself, for those of you who know how difficult wld this fix be?

TIA!

A buddy of ours has a new 700 that leaks as well. He says they make a new metal cover that should cure the problem. Unfortunately, they are a back ordered part. Get your reservations in now for a new one.

Default 700 leaker question

Thanks guys. I am going to the dealer tomorrow to get the work done. Said he would have it ready in a day with the new metal bracket. One more quick question, does any of your starters seems like it spins and doesn't really turn the motor over? Mine has only done it 1 or 2 times so I am not really concerned about it.

Hey Spam,

Have you ever ridden at Windrock? We drive down from Michigan just to ride there. It is fantastic.

Default 700 leaker question

mtpockets, thanks for the heads up! The dealer that I went to was suppose to have me blocked out for a Polaris mechanic but he was out at the lake so another mechanic did the work. I will call tomorrow and try to find a dealer that knows what is up with the 700.
