Default Two questions about my 2001 Sportsman 500

Hi,

I recently bought my first polaris atv, its a 2001 Sportsman 500 with 71 hours. Question #1 is, do all polaris starters make alot of noise or is it just mine. And question #2, when I start to move forward on the ATV there sorta a jerking feeling from the rear, it stops after the atv has started moving around 3-5mph. Is this normal for a automatic atv?

Thanks

Allen, Without being able to hear the noise it would be hard to say. The other sound that comes from the rear. Is it more of a klunk sound, if so don't worry about it. Mine does the same and have read about others who have heard the same noise as well. I think the sound comes from the secondary clutch. Hope this helps.

Alan,

If all else fails take it in and have it seen about my a cert. mechanic....it is much better than settling for the noise only find you have further damaged it. I would then take it back to who you bought it from and ask them to help you out on getting it fixed.....this is what I would do
