Default TL Predators arrive in Phoenix

I know it's not what a raptor owner wants to hear but the Predator will prove to be the superior quad when raptor owners go head to head and report back on the forums after getting taken in every aspect except reverse. Right now after having ridden the Predator, the only thing I'm worried about is reliability. Due to it being a first model year bike, I bought the 4 year warranty for $520. I'm so relieved that the claims weren't just marketing BS. I'm looking forward to going head to head with some raptors, cannondales, and DS650s myself once the breakin period is over. I'm sure you'll find your share of predators to race in the coming months. I'm curious to hear your thoughts after you've had a chance to go head to head.

Peace Out!

That is where you are wrong, I have a friend getting one already bought and paid for. I hope it is faster than a Raptor. What I do not want to hear is BS 10 quad length's on piped Raptors stories. You see I do not care who makes the fastest, as long as they keep making them better. If they keep making them better and faster the manufactures have to keep improving to compete, It's better for everybody. But your stock not even broken in Predator beating piped Banshees by 6 and Piped Raptors by 10 lengths is total bull. So it would beat a stock ds by what 12 lengths and a stock LTZ400 by what 15 lengths. The possibility of it being faster than these quads I do not doubt the chance of it being that much faster is highly unlikely.

I'd really like to know how these machines are showing up when according to Polaris, all shipping was halted for the week due to the Thanksgiving holiday. That's why I'm still waiting on a machine that should have been here over a week ago.

I tell ya, I'm close to calling my dealer and telling them to cancel my order of the machine because I'm getting sick of being fed a load of bull. Polaris doesn't deserve the sales if they can't give an honest report and ship product when they promise.

Just curious RaptorRider660R, have you raced a predator yet???? If so, please clear it up for us how you faired. With the mods your quad has I'd like to know how you compare to a predator. I just got back from my first ride after the breakin period on my predator and I can personally back up the fact that the Predator is faster than a pro circuit piped Raptor, toomey piped banshee, and yoshi piped z400. I repeatedly raced each and won. People were shocked at how fast the predator was for a stock quad. I would pull away from the raptor with each shift and was anywhere from 4 to 8 bike lengths ahead by the time we topped out. We raced 4 times and once I missed a shift and still pulled 1st coming from behind. The guy I was racing was saying he'd never been beaten like that by a 4 stroke. When you race a Predator, come and post how it went. In the meantime, don't knock something you have no first hand knowledge of. I don't understand the defensiveness when discussing which qaud beat which. From racing raptors with my 400ex, I respect how fast raptors can be, but the time has come for the raptor to be the prey. I'm sure in a couple of years the predator will be in a similar position. I really want to know if other riders are seeing similar results. Maybe rider skill is playing a bigger role than I think it is but I'm not trying to brag about my bike when posting the results of my races, -just spreading the news.

Riding mine this weekend here in the Oregon Dunes, I would have to say that the Predator does not lack power in the sand, it is only a gearing problem. I had 8 paddle haulers installed when I picked it up, so I cant speak for the knobbies. The Predator seems to like higher rpm's, and does not have the best luggin ability, but a pipe would probably help. If you keep the rpm's up where the Predator has the best power, you climb just as fast as a Banshee.

I think your right on the gearing, and a pipe will help the motor some to hopefully enough. I know mine droped off the power when going up the hill but it's not totally broke in yet, when it's broke in I will flog this thing and see what happens............lol

Break-in makes a world of difference. A great example is my 2003 Arctic Cat 400i. Here's a somewhat underpowered but capable little quad... when it was new, the thing wouldn't climb any hill in any gear except 1st. It would just bog down all the way until you ended up in 1st.

BUT, after 120 miles or so, it started being able to cilmb in 2nd. As the miles added up, it got better. Now it climbs 'em just fine in 3rd (albiet slowly), but it does it and that's what counts.

So once the Predators get enough hours on 'em for the rings to seat really well, then we'll be able to tell just what they'll do.
