Default SP 700 clutch question.

I posted before about my 700 top speed of 50 mph and some said to check the plastic nut on the clutch which I did and it seems to be ok as it was tight using channel locks and I could back it off. There was no lock tite so I put some on and snugged it up. Question is this: is the nut tight when the u shaped hole is where the threads just start and the nut is just snugged up?

Also two plastic thingies fell out from the foot rest, do they go between the foot rest and the metal bracket? The holes line up with the mounting bolts but the right side of the quad does not have any at all so I couldn't compare to that side. Does the u shape face forward or back? Flat side up or down? Thanks.
