Default Shimming the Primary

HPD suggests shimming the primary clutch when using their next primary springs. This is suggested to bring engage RPM down a few hundred RPM.

Polaris's service manual warns against this in no uncertain terms. Yet, HPD often sells and uses Polaris's pimary springs in the kits.

Has anybody shimmed a primary spring with a washer or two successfully?

Thanks.

Dan, never done it personally. I have always liked the higher engagement, so I didnt have a reason to. Look into the plain HPD spring. I had it on my wife's wheeler. It engaged a hair above stock rpms and shifted out great. Also pulled the correct rpms on top (with 53 gram weights). With 55 weights you might get exactly what you want. Just a thought Bubba

Thanks bubba.

I think I'll put in some silent sport and see if I can quiet it down a bit. I care less about the actual engage rpm then I do the noise.

see ya.
