Default Requiem for a Sport...

Mike,

I got rid of my Polaris Sport, and bought a 400 EX as well. The Polaris is a bit peppier, but after some seat time, you will be extremely amazed at the handling differences. The 400 EX is so much more at home on the dirt than the Polaris was. As far as feeling a bit cramped, a new set of Renthals adjusted a bit forward will take care of that. In the peppiness cayegory, throw on a slip on pipe, ad a K&N, or other high flowing air filter, re-jet it, and you'll notice quite a difference. You will also want to adjust the throttle cable. From the factory, they are not adjusted correctly, and there is a lot more cable left for adding more gas to the carb. There should only be about 1/8" of play in the cable. If you check yours, there is probably about 1/2". Also, you can throw on some OMF air shrouds that will throw a lot more air over the motor, cooling it way down. Running Mobil 1 15W50 synthetic in it after proper break in will let it run a lot cooler, as well. As for reverse, after one year of riding the EX, I've had to get off and push backwards two times. If you have reverse, you probably use it all the time out of convenience, if you know you don't have it, you won't put yourself on the spot to need it.

I also liked my Sport, but after the switch, I wondered why I waited so long to make the change.

Geez, Mike. I hope you talk as nice about Celeste as you do for your Sport.

What a shock to see you let it go. I got a few parts from you along the way (yellow seat and hood). As for stupid questions, you are the one with the answer to other's stupid questions!

Hope you enjoy your new Honda. I would not have thought a 400ex would be your choice. My wife wants to keep her Sport also despite my attempts to switch her to the Raptor. I'll be trying again when that V-force 700 comes out. She will appreciate the auto tranny.

Maybe I'm getting old, but I look forward to the day when I can actually start my quad in the garage and not smell like oil the rest of the day. The Polaris and the Banshee are both smokers. Cough, cough.

Good luck riding red. I'm sure you will still be around to offer Polaris advice. By the way, how long are you going to be engaged anyway. The term "Fiance'" doesn't last forever.

I wanted to eventually get a Predator after selling my Sport, but the Honda's price was so cheap ($4699). I really didn't feel like waiting a year and a half to have the Predator delivered to my local dealer (sounds like another American company who's initials are H-D). Celeste has already put her foot down saying that I will not modify this quad as much as I did my Sport. I kind of agree with her on that point. Nothing will be modified unless it breaks or the modifications come cheap (read free). Hey, I'm not holding my hand out but if someone is willing to give me something they don't use, I'm not too proud to accept it.

pair of 98s,

We plan on getting married this summer. Geez, you sound like my parents, who can hardly wait for us to get married! (LOL) I have some time set aside this summer for hopefully a SMALL wedding. You never can tell with Italian families how many (dozens of) people will show up. I had people at my first wedding that I didn't know, and they were from MY side of the family.

Oh well.....
