I just got back from a quick half-hour ride (now to do an oil change since my filters are here), and I have to say... I really do NOT think a gear change is needed. But this is on dirt... I'll have to wait until I get to the dunes to see if I still think that.

There are six different sprockets (rear) available directly from Polaris...both in red and silver.

Yeah, there's a 36, 37, and 38 tooth one... each in red or silver. Stock is 37. So to do the equivelent of a 13-tooth front sprocket, you'd go to a 38 in the rear.

Are you sure that adding one tooth in the rear is the same as subtracting one in the front? Subtracting one from fourteen is a 7% change and adding one to thirty-seven is a an almost 3% change due to the larger amount of teeth.
It seems that you would have to go thirty-nine or forty teeth on the rear to equal going to a thirteen tooth on the front. Is this right or am I breakin' wind??

my math shows to accomplish the difference of putting a 13 on the front, you have to put a 40 on the rear, which would probably need a link or two added to your chain. anybody know if the rear is common w/ anything else so we can get some different than just one tooth difference?

Hey bmgm37 - did you get and try that 13 tooth sprocket yet? Don't forget to let us know if it works or not.

Got it Friday and put it on. We are planing of going out to the dunes today, as soon as my son gets his lazy butt out of bed I have a Sony digital camera that can take short videos, but usually are low quality that I plan to take out. We are planning on going to the Winchester Bay dunes toaday, I will try and report and post pictures and maybe some videos tonight.
