On the early production 700s I have heard of the carb intake boot cracking. The new ones are better.
On most of the first year run 700s, a coolant leak from the water pump cover is common. The old ones were plastic. The new ones are metal.
That is about it. From what I hear, current production machines have both problems cured now.

Hi Brian,

There are really no problems with the 700 engine. Once you have the updated kit for the water pump, and hope you do not get one that the carb leaks gas all the time. I have seen one with around 1600 mi on it that the PTO seal leaked and have seen some starter problems.

I am about to work on jetting my own if I come up with a good setup I can let you know !!
Buy the way where in Ontario do you live.
