Does it really matter?? If the sp500 can out pull you it doesn't mean that it is the better quad. Kind of reminds me when we were in college and argued who could drink the most beers, pointless!

 

I would have to say living on a farm that polaris does have a good pulling quad. the others are messing around w/gears polarises just hammers it.

what are yall talking about, atvs pulling sleds or an atv tug of war? All I know and I have seen this with my own eyes a 450s honda will out pull a 300 artic cat. My old grizz with 26inch vampires wouldnt budge a 450s with 25inch mudrunners or a stock 335 with bald stocks. In both hook ups neither moved an inch. With my new 500 SP(stock) I still couldnt budge the 450s with mudrunners. I havent had the chance to hook up to him since I got my 27-12-12 vampires. All in all I think the Sportsman is the king of pulling but thats just my opinion.

In the April issue of Atv action they held a drag race between the 00 Grizzly and the 00 Polaris magnum 500. They tied 800lbs. behind both machines and the 100cc smaller Magnum came in ahead of the Grizzly.(They performed this race on blacktop to eliminate the Polaris 4-wheel drive traction advantage)The magazine choose the mag over the Grizzly. The magazine stated, and I quote "this is the second time the Grizzly goes down to a 500cc Polaris, it lost to the Sportsman in 98 and now to the Magnum in 00" I wish they would put the Grizz up against the Polaris 400 explorer. I know it is faster,( more hp. less weight) a better mudder,(4-wheel drive verses open front differential 3 wheel drive) and more comfortable. Who knows maybe it's even a better puller. Man, would that ever send the Grizzly into hibernation.

 

Explorer is much quicker, but the two-stroke lacks the torque to beat the grizzly in a pulling type event. Wouldn't even be close.

 

Please keep this quiet,,the only pull I witnessed a Prairie 4oo beat the 400 Hondas..and yamahas
