Well, I'm 41,and tried quad racing for the first time this summer, they had an amatuer, bring what ya got class for blasters, and 4 stroke sports,so I took my son's totally stock 300ex and tried it. The only mod I had was 20" holeshots on the back a buddy let me borrow, and dialed the shocks all the way up for the jumps. As an inside joke, I was running "41" as my race number, only one guy in the pack was over 20,funny thing was,the track was pure mud, and me, having lots of 4x4 mud riding under my belt, was able to slide the corners and cut back on the throttle early for the tight spots. I watched the guys who sprayed me in mud in the first few turns keep wiping out on the bales from overpowering the muddy corners, and ended up 6th out of 12!! Man, talk about body pain and exhaustion, bad enough fighting the quad, but 80 lbs of mud on top of that really made it hard. I crawled back to my truck and lay on my trailer for 5 heats, then it was my turn again,I was so stiff I didn't think I was going to make the first turn, but I surprised my self and ended up 8th,on a much drier track, got some pretty impressive air (my son and buddy were taping it,so I got to see myself later) and didn't crash!! The rest of the weekend I was pretty sore, damn near had to roll out of chairs for 2 days, but I think I may do it again next summer, I'm going to make a small track on my field, and build up some muscle for racing!!!
