Questions about SP600

This is straight from the owners manual "when operating at a ground speed of 3 MPH in low range, the engine speed would be around 3000 RPM.
And yes you can get up to 35-40 in low on Polaris

This thread was started with the concern of Polaris belt problems. You recommend the following
Later you say the following
I am just having a hard time following your recommendations to others.
If your not going to blazing trails at 40-50 mph but you will be traveling at 40mph or less and going over some ruff stuff. Then put it in low and ride with low. Keeping the quad in low will not hurt it, even if you try to go high speed.
Yes I have gotten my quad up to those speeds in low but not on purpose, its is unhealthy for the motor

The only thing that I can add to this is that I have tried many types of different riding. I have tried lows and I have tried the hight route. The end result is my SP 500 H.O was a lemon! It had clutch, ignition, belt, linkage, and water pump issues. Mind you that this is all with in a months time. I have spent more time pulling my bike to the shop than I have on the trail. I am greatefull for all the help. When you ask for help, everyone may not always be correct, or have different beliefs on why things are the way they are. They are not always wrong. You just have to pick out what you think may be correct and give it a try. That's why this is an open discussion. I really thank all of you for all your help. Without your imput, and your past post on all of your problems, I would never have known just how bad a problem the belt thing is or could be.
Like most of you have said in the past posts, you never have had this problem, and so on. It has also been said that their is a hand full of my type of problems, and the rest of you are very satisfied. Could have just been a bad batch, and I was lucky enough to get one of them! lol. I will be picking my bike up tomorrw, and can't wait. The only thing that I have going for me, is that my dealer accually cares enough to try to make it right. Hopefully my new SP 600 will not be another lemon.
Thanks again, and happy holidays...

sorry to hear about the sp500 being a problem. I just fixed a co-workers 500 he had the same problem and it was the clutch. they were misaligned and I had to shim the secondary clutch. good luck on the600. I am also thinking about the 600.
Another thing, If you can only go 15m.p.h. in low something is wrong. Just based on my own findings.

WELL! Let me say that I have 6.2 hours on my new SP 600. I have still not had the chance to really c what it can do, but for starts,,"IT IS THE DEAL!" This bike has got alot of things that I wanted change on the SP 500. and did not know about it until I got to looking over it Friday afternoon. For starts, the PTV cover has a drain plug at the bottom of it. The SP 500 PTV air intake snorkle has a down spout buy your feet on the side, but yet the air in take is under the gas tank! This made alot of sence! I wanted to change the position to match the air intake. Guess what! They have done it for me w/the SP 600! The handling of the SP 600 and the 02' SP 500 is night and day difference. The SP 600 is much easier in monovering in tight places. You will have to get use to some new noises w/the EBS and the belt chadering, but for what I have found out, it is normal! Winch moutn on the SP 600 is about a foot or so higher than the brush gaurd mount for the SP 500. This will allow the winch to stay out of the water more, and it is now possilble to reach the "free spoil lever" with out tring to break ur fingers. At this poing in time, the only thing that is eveident that I can see maybe an issue is the fuel milage. This bike loves gas! I think I might have about 65 or 70 miles on it. I have burned about a tank in a half already. I am hopeing after the break in period this will start to get more reasonable. I will let you know more about the bike once it gets broke in more.
Thanks for all your help!

I only have 140 mi on mine but on my last ride I was riding with a good friend who has a well broken in 500 HO (2500mi) when we finished our ride we both filled up our quads to compare milage. I put in $10.02 he put in $10.01. We were both amazed and thought for sure he was going to be a couple bucks less.

Snowride:
Is that race fuel you are using? $10 for 4.75 gallon tank? Nice to know that you both used about the same amont. How do you like your new SP 600?
Thanks for the imput....
