The water pump seal on the xplorer400 is much less prone to going out than on any of the 4-stroke machines. It is not a mechanical seal like on the 500ho.......rather just a plain seal that can easily last over 10 years or several thousand miles. I have never known of the water pump seal to be a downfall of the 400 2-stroke.

Like Farmr123 and others have said, with 2000, you get the headlight pod........with 2001, you lose that but have improved brake and steering components. If you are used to running a chain drive machine, you will be fine with the xplorer 400. Good luck.
