SP700 airbox mod???
a couple of daysago i emailed bearman at diamondgracing.com . his company makes cdi boxes for the kawasaki 650. its supposed to make them go a lot faster than they already do. i asked if there was or any plans to make a cdi for the polaris. the answer was no. unfortunately. maybe with enough requests someone would make one!

Greg I havent messed with the 600 yet. If the cam timing is more advanced I dont know if they did it in the cam or in the gear/dowel pin area. Anyone out there checked part nos./specs on600/700 cams and gears to see whats diff yet? Cam change will require eng removal, gear change will not.And yes our cam did require diff springs. Cant see where you could go wrong with the 600 cdi on the 700. Last but not least removal of the base gasket was not a problem on ours as we found it to have .055 deck cl from fact, removal of base gskt which is .022 which leaves .033deck cl plus .010thick head gskt for a total quench or piston to head cl of.043 . We even took a small cut on head for a new CR of 10.2:1, Its always good to be concerned about potential problems though ahead of time, so check and measure 4-5 times and cut once.Until someone starts making engineered and proven kits modify at your own risk but, the sp700 has lots of potential internally the only problem is they carry 140more Lbs than the competition to start with. Thats just that more of a challenge if your loyal to your brand. Hey I like kaw and yam too, I just have polaris.

Talked to 1bearman on another forum yesterday; the 650 CDI is almost on the market. 70-75mph top speed and more throttle response off the bottom. He said that when the P650 box is complete, he's going to start on the 660 Grizz CDI. Trifin's right, you Polaris guys should start contacting DiamondG. If there's enough interest he might do something for you. Timing curves are the big restrictor on all the big machines.

trifin actually it will hit limiter fairly quick about 800' and yes it is fully shifted out and belt is not slipping according to my calcs. Plenty of places to air it out around Buna if you need more room though. Buna is prob. about 100mi north/norteast of Houston on hwy.96 40-45mi south of lake Sam Rayburn, whch by the way has some of the best riding around(Angelina nat forest soon to be closed to off road vehicles) Only foot traffic and woodpecker watchers to be allowed. And I dont really think I would hit or exceed 7000 rpm ,but it might come close. Always need some cushion room.

the angelina forest requires the registration sticker and the state safety course doesnt it?
(childish question)with all the mods are you able to pull wheelies in high without leaning back?
ive already ordered 28" 589's for mine and i know im going to loose a lot of power and i want to modify the bike so that i can still out run my grizzly friends hahaha. im probably not going to open up the motor until its paid off so bolt-ons it is!!

The CDI is completely new. I don't know exactly where the rev limiter is set stock, but the new CDI is roughly 1000 RPM higher. (8500, I think). Top speed on the 650 is restricted by the timing curve, not the rev limiter. The clutches are designed to work at 6500 RPM: the stock CDI goes to full advance at 1500-2000 RPM and holds full advance up to 5500 RPM. From 5500 to 6500 RPM the timing is retarded 5 degrees from max. At 6500 RPM it's retarded roughly another 15 degrees. This holds the top speed down to 60 - 65 mph.
If the 700 is hitting the rev limiter and you need more speed, the limiter will need to be higher, if the valve train and crank are up to it. The hydraulic lifters could be an issue here. The changes to the advance curve are the big gun here; it will pull hard right to the rev limiter.
I don't know the RPM limit of the 500 engine. I do know you can't push it much. I read an article on a built up engine that was done by Mickey Dunlap of Four Stroke Tech. (This was a couple of years ago, I'm 75% sure it was FST). He said at the time that the 500 crank will break at 8750 RPM, and not to push the RPM limit due to this.

Whats stock p650 limit and what will it be at 70-75 mph? Is it raised or eliminated, also is this a mod. box or completly diff? box? I need limiter raised or removed on our sp700 any help out there????? Also does any body know limiter speeds on sp 500 and sp500 Ho.

Now that I think about it, that may have been 6750 RPM, not 8750. I'll post it if I can find the article. Sorry.
