SP700 airbox mod???
Are they really geared lower... my 700 is almost too low.
Well, I have an update on my airbox mod. I cut it just below the small taper in the snorkel. I also removed the first baffle inside the stock muffler. I have the aaen, but it is too loud for my taste. My stock muffler is a little more thoaty now, but within reason. I am running a dyno 148, 2 turns out on the pilot and I think I am a little lean. Before, I was running a dyno 144, 1.5 tunrs out on the pilot and I was a little rich. So, I know it is breathing better now and there has been a noticable improvement in performance. I will order the Dyno 150 and 152 and try both. I will report back.

trifin the state does req. atv tags angelina nat. forest rangers do not enforce it though unless you cause problems. They just ask that you wear helmets, dont ride double ,stay off public roads and out of woodpecker areas . Yes it will wheelie in high gear, traction provided. On pavement leaning foward it will flip when nailed from dead stop, both of them, the 500 and 700 . 500 will still has the edge for now in a drag til we get the timing retard/limiter issue correcred.help!!!!!

Hey Nova Iam sorry I keep calling it a rev limiter, effectivly thats what is is thuogh. The bike maufactuers like to do it with timing. Mercury marine does it with fuel on some of the efi engs. I used to mess with(richerand richer until it wouldnt pull any more rpms.) Guess thats better than leaner and leaner huh? where did you get your imfo on the p650 timing adv/ret curves. Iwonder if msd makes something that would be the oppisite of thier multi step retard just program it to add back in at least the amount the cdi removes, maybe more. hydraulic lifters were replaced by small block chevy solids (lightweight racing series) along with new solid profile camfrom webcam. I think the remainder of valvetrain is safe for 7000 rpm. it uses rokers almost identical to those found in LS-1 chevy engines. We removed pedestals ,drilled fulcrums to 3/8" drilled and tapped cyl head for SBC screw in studs (shortened on top approx.1/4") andSBC aftermarket guidepates(narrowed 1/4"slight wedge shape and tigged back together) and used cut down posi-style locking nut for adjustable valve system.(non adj before).Ihave heard about crank breakage in the older 500s at and above 7500rpms I think that Came from Hpd(pre 2000 mod) Do you know anything about timing action on 500 /700 boxes.Did you mean that your clutches were fully shifted at 6500? need cdi help!!!!

The timing curves for the 650 came from former posts and conversations with Don (1Bearman) at DiamondG Racing. I'm hoping I remembered the figures with some semblance of accuracy. I don't know what the curves are for the 500 & 700. The clutch set-up is sprung and weighted to keep the engine at 6500 RPM during WOT acceleration.

That being said, this is not about the lables placed on our quads by the manufacturers. This is about red-neck bragging rights.

No push in my front end. The back end powerslides and keeps the front end pointed in the right direction.
That being said, I know 2 guys that constantly outrun me in slalom competitions. They both drive Sp700's. They both beat me when they were running Sp500HO's. The right driver makes for a very sporty Sportsman.
In addition to that, the P650 with its macpherson struts pushes the corners just like the 700.
