I have thought real serious about sticking a newer 440 twin race sled motor in my Sport. They are just about maxed from the factory and will fly. They're also small, lightweight, and have the variable exhaust. The ATV clutch will even fit I'm told. Maybe someone else can give a little more insight to this.Bubba

It's been a thought of mine too. Anyone else? How about you, Rick?

I had the same thought too. to use a 440 liquid cooled twin. looked like a good fit but just don't have the money. My cousin blew up his 95 scrammy litterally ( pieces blew off, thought about using it as a base ) You can probably find a motor pretty cheap online

A couple of years back there was a guy on here "700twin" or something close who put a 700 twin in a trailblazer. I`m not sure if you can search back that far but maybe someone knows him since I havent seen a post from him in a long time. From what I remember it was fairly simple.

Chris, yep something like that is what I was talking about. The ATV frame has enough room to accomodate a larger twin. It might stick a little farther out on the right side, but I wouldnt think very much. They pack the twin cylinders very close together. The Polaris use 5 transfer port and 3 exhaust port configurations, so they dont need alot of width on the cylinders. I had a buddy up in NY send his 440 race sled cylinder down here for me to look at. If they built the ATV cylinder like this, They would make 20% more power right out of the box. It's no wonder how they can make so much power out of a snowmobile engine. I gotta quit writing now, I'm gettting too excited about all this power!! Bubba

their are a couple of web sites, can't remember what they are, but if you do a search for snowmobile engines you should be able to find several web sites that sell snowmobile parts

My friend is in the process of putting a Skidoo 670 drag motor that he bent the crank on and repaired into a banshee. All he needs now is a frame. Apparentl the DS 650 isnt fast enough for him. Oh well, I can stll get him in the slow stuff and mud
