Default Trinity IV pipe dyno numbers

On Trinity's web site, they give the dyno numbers of the Predator. They say the Pred in stock form puts out 45hp, and with there pipe it puts out 50hp. Are these #'s inflated or are they close. I'v heard a lot of people complain about there dyno #'s on the Raptors, saying they were not getting the #'s Trinity said they were getting. 5hp is a lot for a complete exhaust system, and on the bottom end is was more like 8hp. The Z for a complete system at most was only getting 3.3hp with the air box lid removed. So with Trinity's numbers for the Predator, what does it consit of as far as jetting, air box mods, different air filter, spark arrester, and noise. Shouldn't they tell us how they came up with these numbers and how load the pipe is. Or do you just buy it and hope you get it right. I just find it hard to believe they can get those numbers by just putting on a pipe. Are these companies in just such a hurry to put this out in the market hoping that the dyno #'s will sell it. Then the person who buy's it finds out to get that hp, they have to hack up there airbox, or no airbox at all and have a pipe thats so load, you can't hear yourself think. I think these companies should tell us what they did to these atv's for them to get these numbers.

GE We should hook up for a ride when the weather breaks. You must have some good places up there in NH to ride. We have an assorted group that includes Raptors, 400EX, Predator, LT500, DS 650, Banshee, Sportman 700's and a Canibal. We don't have a whole heck of alot down here in MA, other than the western part of the state! It would be great to find some decent places to ride and meet some new people!

Thanks,

John

After all the Grenading motors I've heard of from them, not really interested. We can slap a 15.5:1 dome and port the snot out of the 400's and ride them hard all summer. I think I'll be waiting for HPD, Hot Seat, Aaen, or FST to do some advances. Anyone can push something to it's limits. A well engineered and tested program can produce the power, yet still stay together. Not slammin' Trinity (here comes some more transients), but you gotta admit the stuff doesn't last. Maybe it's because most of us around here assemble our own engines.....TLC.

Ge- there numbers are high. I believe that stock you are looking at 34-36HP (raptor 32) with a pipe add about 3 to 4. There pipe will be no better than anyother big name maker

the 45 horsepower number is at the crank, I've heard anywhere between 42-38 rear wheel horsepower. Probably depends on the machine they tested. The tolerance between machines as far as HP goes is probably quite high. I imagine as much as +or- 3 HP. Then their's the tolerance between dynos. Best way to tell is to drag before and after mods

Trinity test rear wheel hp and they are high.

BTW my 03 raptor title said 43.8 hp ( i assume at the crank) and it made 31hp on the dyno with zero ride time on it.

www.sportquad.com show dyno test results from Dynojet's R & D facility in Las Vegas. It gives the Predator 42hp and the Raptor 36hp.

Sounds great. I have 3 places within a hr that I ride. One of them is mostly 4x4 riding, but the other two you can ride a sport atv, just a little ruff in some places. I'm still looking for a sand pit area to ride in, hopefully I will.

HP #'s mean little to me, it's torque. Kinda like a Trans AM 400 VS a Mustang, the mustang has about 20 more HP but less torque, but the TA wins almost every time because of the torque. If you have big torque HP will take care of it's self. Just because the Predator has more HP means nothing to me till I see the torque #'s
