Default carb problem. please help:(

Ok, I just put on my HPD pipe and was onto putting in the 165 main jet. I got that put in and turned the pilot screw. I put the carb back in and was tightening everything down when I noticed that my adjuster cable was broken off. I looked like it was rusted and broke. I dont know if it just happened or if it was like that. I looked it up on partsland and they want $55 for a 6 inch long piece of cable. Outragous!!! Does anybody know where I can get the adjuster cable for a mukuni BST 40mm carb for less than $55? Also, when I get a new one, how far do I adjust it in or out? Thanks

I dont know about the cable but I think your jet that you have may be way to small. You have a bigger carb with the pipe and k&n filter and they only gave you a 165 main when stock is a 155? That is alot of air and carb for a 165 main! I have a 34mm carb on my 250 and I have a 200 main. Make sure that you keep an eye on your plug. I think you will run lean with that small of a jet.

The carb is the stock 40mm Mikuni. The 165 is the jet that HPD sent me with the pipe.

Kool, boy is that rediculas, $55 for a cable!!! Polaris really jacks up their prices. Take for instance, the coolant hoses. One hose is $39.99, another is $13.99, and the 1/4" fuel line for the coolant return bottle is $29.99. WTF!! I can go up to Carquest or NAPA and get Gates 3/4" heater hose for $2.50 a foot. and fuel line for less than $5. What kind of crap is that!!!

Well, I was able to find a cable through a dealer for $48. It should be here Monday. When I install it, how far in or out do I adjust the long screw that goes into the carb? I cant seem to find it in the service manual
