I think what most people are saying, out of the box, a 250R is a little out dated. SURE..the top racers build them to race and handle like no other quad, but a stock 250r and a stock pred, thats a little different. Hell, take a 03 quad and put it up against a 99 quad, most likely the new quad will handle better just because of small suspension changes.
SO my bet is this, stock for stock..the pred would prob take it...moded up..give it to the 250R guys..hell i could be wrong..just IMO

You are compairing a 25,000 dollar mx machine to a 6,000 dollar preditor. Give me a break dude!!! Thats like compairing a farari to a vette. STOCK FOR STOCK the Preditor is way more advanced than the 250r. Im not knocking the 250r because we all know that it is a bad a$$ bike but if you were to put in well less than the 25,000 that these pro riders have in the 250,s the preditor would most likely come out on top. OUT of the box the Preditor handles better!!! Lets get real now!!!

The 250r is one of the best handling quad, and it was in its time. But is has been what now, 14 years? Of course the newer quads have more advanced parts on them. Burd, when i was arguing with you i was saying ANY 250r can out handle a predator. I was not talking about stock vs stock, i mean 2 race ready quads in MOTOCROSS. I am not judging the predator, because i havent ridden one and i have heard they are great handling. But IMO I think both of those quads, with an equal amount of money into them the 250r could take the pred. And obviously it has to do with the rider. I know Daryl Rath has been doing some racing with the race ready pred, and that he does have some experience with a race prepped R. So i think he is the one who knows this answer.

the r may be a thing of the past. however it was so far ahead of its time its geometry is still used today.. AND EVEN BY OTHER MANUFACTURERS!!!.. on thing to note is taht the R's handling is attributed to its "pure" geometry.. the predator however uses a linkage type tie-rod... more peices prone to breakage.
