2000 400 explorer mods
#1
Does anybody have any mods for the 400 explorer to gain more low end torque?
Is it possible to install a different sprocket set up in the rear without screwing up the four wheel drive system?

I put on an Aaen Torquer pipe and clutch kit to match the pipe and it did the lowend and tourque great.

ftwflh, yea that wud be nice but knowing all those companies that make them prob dont make em for a 400 xplorer, never seem to, why in the heck do they always leave the damn xplorers out of everything, only polaris that beifits from after-market parts seems to be "SPORTMANS" this is seriously starting to bug me beings im getting older and want to blow some dang money on some cool gadgets for my wheeler but of course they either dont make it for a 400 xplorer or they have every model besides mine (2000) if anybody has any answers to this or where i can find neat things for mine please let me know on this forum! For under $20 you can swap out the primary clutch spring to either the white or green spring. These raise the initial engagement RPMs so the engine makes more power before the clutch kicks in. White raises it a little, green more.
To do it RIGHT, go to www.rittercycle.com and see what they have. I think Rick has performance stuff for the Xplorer. Far better to call the number listed than leave an e-mail. Sometimes it takes a while before they reply to e-mails. Rick is a stand-up kind of guy who won't steer you wrong.

JM,
Check my post under clutch cover for Xplorer. RCR is the way to goRCR just call him and tell him what your wanting to get out of your machine and he will help you, don't email him. I did the clutch spring change and a HPD shift drum conversion. I was real happy with just the spring change and even happier after adding the shift drum. I've just rode on them long enough that I'm looking for more power now.

Just because the 400 Explorer is nt listed dont mean the parts for the older 400 Sportsmans wont work.I dont know what my pipe and silencer are for(got them off of Ebay)but it fit my 96 400 Sportsman with only a bracket that i had to make for the silencer to hang down about 2 in. more. Its like the air filter on my son's 125 Breeze UNI didnt list one for it but they did a Blaster and the K&N that was listed for the Breeze was the same as the K&N for the Blaster so I got a UNI for a Blaster and it fit the Breeze. So what I am saying is a 400 is a 400 and most of the time parts will interchange (with a little moddifing)
