Truckracer, I ran that same set-up before i went to the 580 kit. Ran perfect all the way to the rev limiter. Installing the airforce kit really picked up the performance up another level. Gets to the rev limiter a full 2 seconds quicker (verified on the dyno with me there watching).

Truckracer:
I read your post several weeks ago and tried what you suggested. I still had the popping.
I then tried a variety of jetting changes from 155 to 175. No improvement.
Then I changed the needle setting and idle jet. No improvment.
Then I tried modifying the air box. No improvment.
The I tried a K and N filter. No improvment.
The I tried a variety of the above, trying different combinations. No improvement.
I have two Predators and have the same "popping" on both. This helped me eliminate the possibility that it is the ATV and not the carb set up.
Those of you who claim to have eliminated the popping, but still feel the Rev Limiter come on...are you sure it is the Rev Limiter and not just a continuation of the popping?
I am confident I am not hitting the Rev Limiter as I am no where near 8000 rpm when it occurs.

Truck Racer, Gary talked like he would post the dyno numbers On mine by this weekend. The 580 kit is going to make some big power, I don't think Gary can make public what a Ported 580 with cams and all the goodies will dyno at. I know he has already built the engine and give it to Polaris. Terms of his contract with polaris keep him from telling all the secrets they have found. Mine will be a 580 w/stock cams until the after market cams are released. By july or so i should have the complete modified motor in my Predator. I know people will be shocked at the final results, they are going to be "BIG". There are cams, cdi box with different timing and rev limiter, and some top secret stuff in the works as we speak. Dirt wheels will be testing 3 of his predators in the future, each one with a different stage of mods.

Sure sounds like some good stuff is yet to come on the Predators!
I hate to hear that Dirt Wheels will be doing any testing! Most knowledgeable folks don't believe what they have to say, their credibility is shot.

I don't think Dirt Wheels will be able to find anything negative about these Mods, they are already dyno proven, but you can never tell what they might say. But the future is very bright for the Predator, Don't be shocked if you here about a True 80 to 100 hp Predator by the end of the year. (that's with no power adder, nos, turbo etc...) That's not using Trinity's dyno either. (LOL)...

You think just a big bore kit will get you to 80-100 hp? You are smoking some serious crack. I will not bash the predator because I like it. I think that if you want a quad that is great right out of the box without even having to mod it, there is no competition. The price is unbelievably low too. I am going to buy one as my second quad. You can get that kind of horsepower but it will be with either NOS or a very high compression setup with alcohol. Neither setup is feasable for long term reliability.
The only problems i can see in the predator are fairly minor. Weak a-arms, weak tie rods and a finnicky tranny when pushing it hard. I dont know if i would have put a weld in the main point of stress in the a-arm. Not smart. I am also a little unsure as to whether i like the "anti bump steer" technology. I may get used to it though with time. I am just used to my bike.
Anyway, i am glad to see Polaris finally put out a quad that doesnt suck a$$.
BTW, the raptor and predator are close in speed but the raptor is a little faster. Especially with mods. But what do you expect with a 166 cc difference in displacement? People will say they have beaten a raptor but what people dont take into account is that poor jetting can make a 400 ex faster than a raptor. Most people dont have their bikes spot on for jetting. Rider skill is also a huge factor.
Who cares about straight line racing anyways? If you want to do that, get a banshee and work it. It will smoke anything and cost much less to work.

First of all i never said it would be a reliable daily driver with 100 hp. It will be a drag racer and yes it will be a alternate fuel source. But where are any 100 hp raptors that are not running a power adder. Other than KING RAPTOR on nitrous i don't know of one. But your are dead wrong if you think a raptor is going to be any faster mod for mod. So far the Predator is showing the same dyno numbers as the top Raptor's. And forget about stock swing arms and all that stuff, we are talking modded bike's, stock for stock there's nothing out there with a better suspension. If you don't like drag racing then don't drag race, you will get you butt kicked anyway. But some of us do, but before you come over to this forum running your mouth about technology you don;t even know about, find out the facts. There are some bad raptor's out there, the Compound has several, but there are some Polaris Predators catching up fast. Banshee's are two stroke, we are building four stroke's, just our choice.
