Maxout's post is an example of someone with no clue about the subject giving there percieved opinion on some they know nothing about. What fixing do you have to do for a wet belt and how can you "water log" a belt?? MAybe it is best you didn't comment at all Maxout!

Try crossing a silty river and hitting a not seen hole. Your machine (SP 500) will float with you off it. I was able to get it to the bank 200 yards down river and hold it their till my other machine made it across to winch it out. The handle bars were under water for about 5 sec. before she died. Wish I had pictures but the camera drowned as well. I had it going in about 45 minutes. If you think you might get wet use a K@N filter. They dont fall apart after getting wet, and dry out twice as fast. Also carry the red bottles of heat with you. Nothing works faster to get the water out of your fuel system.
I was fortunate to not get water in the oil, but had an extra filter and oil if needed. Polaris needs to add a plug of some kind to the bottom of the belt case. My seat is still a little heavy from the ordeal?

I was out riding today and also had the same problem of hitting deep water too fast and getting the belt wet. I have heard of guys using pvc or similar piping to run the snorkel higher. I have also heard this causes overheating problems. I do not know of any commercially made snorkel kit. Ride on.

Beat this one!!! I stuck 2 straws up my nose and then tipped my head way back and drove off in the water. The bad part was when a small amount of water made it into one of the straws and almost drowned me.

I drove my sportsman out in the middle of this deep hole the belt started slipping and it wouldn't move so I left it there for a place for birds to roost, if it had only been green the birds would have loved it more. Apparently Maxout is right, boy wish I had a boat with no suspension that went 25 m.p.h....

I have a 98 explorer and only got water in the tranny once because the vent tube was jerked off. I live on a fairly large creek , and I ride in water daily. My vent tube is just under my seat and never have I got any water in it while it was on, only when it was missing. I have been as deep as the fenderwells and if you stay at a regular pace your fine , However if you let off in that deep of water you will gurgle out. Had that happen a few times. The key is not to panic.
98 explorer soon to have rcr stage one kit.
