Default stalling Sportsman 700

A buddy of mine bought a new 2002 Sportsman 700 about 5 months ago and has been having problems with it stalling out occasionally . I have been with him 4 times it stalled and it hasn't had a common thread to link it to. Once hill climbing and one time I remember we just stopped to talk and it just died. He siad his garage smells of fuel anymore since it sits in there. He has taken it to the dealer 2 times and the first time the gave it backafter just replacing the plug in it thinking that was the cause ! The second time he brought it in they called him and told him they didn't find anything and just replace the plug again !!!!!!!!! He went nuts on them over that but they can't seem to find anything. He told me the mechanic said the 600's and 700's are having carb problems but never offered to replace it under warrenty. Has anyone else had this problem???

There are 3 SP 600s and one 700 in our group and they all idle too low. We all have experienced that and all of us have turned up our idle just a smidge. Before we adjusted the idle we noticed the problem more in really cold weather.

I have a 600sp. and have experienced the same problems also. After the dealer changed the plugs it doesn't
happen as frequently. I also turned up my idle. This was my question awhile back. I would dearly love to petition
for a better fix. I don't feel it's right to shell out 6000+ for a machine and not have it fixed right!
Maybe if we all bit@#-ed enough to Polaris they might make it right!

Your idle setting has a lot to do with what altitude you are at. The higher above sea level you are, the more fuel it requires. If I am wrong, someone please correct me, but I feel as if that is correct.

Yes, you are correct. I live at higher altitudes and it does like more idle with that and with cold temps.
