My brake light works fine...I do know for a fact that the light is always supposed to be on, but it isnt, just lights up when i use the brakes... Obviously the bulb works, so im guessing its the wiring, or a fuse of some sort.

 

There are 2 filaments in the bulb. One is the brake and the other is the tail light. Most likely you just have a burnt bulb.
