Default Correct way to drain oil on a 500ho

When I drain my oil I only remove the drain plug but the manual says to also remove the oil line at the bottom of the oil tank and clean out some screen drain it also and then replace the gasket. Is it best to drain it at both places??
Thank You
Jim

They also tell you to drain the engine crankcase due to the fact that a cup of oil still exists in the engine. I did mine but had a heck of a time getting the drain plug back in the crankcase due to the front driveshaft being in the way to get a straight shot at it. The slotted hole in the skid plate is not big enough for me to get my hand in.

This dilema goes back and forth. The dealer tells you (depending on which one) the "cup of oil" in the bottom doesn't make any difference unless you see "shavings" on the plug. Personally I'm a little ****, and prefer not to contaminate the new oil with oil that should have been changed. It ends up being how "you" choose to treat your machine. I plan on having mine for years too come how bout you?

I drained the oil in the tank and the crankcase. The "screen" one I could not budge. When I asked the dealer he said they never do the screen and rarely do the crankcase. Said reason for screen one is that particles get trapped by the filter. ( Personally I think they are a bit lazy)
