Default HPD Fire Breathing Predator

I used to get ripped for sounding like a HPD commercial....now there's lot's of satisfied customers sporting their gear. I'm in kinda a unique location, home to Polaris, HPD, Hot Seat, Rath. Sometimes I'm lucky enough to witness some of the products and testing before it's released. I see what these shops put things through before they'll put their name on it. I have to confess, I never heard of Superbike Shop before some of the posts here. Not trying to rip on them, it's just that I'm very leary of all these shops all of a sudden showing interest in Polaris. The others have treated me, and others I've sent there, great. I don't want people spending their hard earned dollars and have something grenade like the Raptor guys are having with their Trinity gear. Just my 2c. I'm gonna do some research.

Actually Superbike shop has been, and still is under contract with KTM motorcycles. Gary, the owner was with the factory yamaha road race team, then went into business for his self, He is a Polaris, Victory, and KTM dealer. His experience came from Superbike Racing, then he became the foremost authority for KTM development. I have no Idea how he became affiliated with Polaris. But he is bringing the knowledge of superbike's and appling it to the basically dinosour technology of atv's. I have visited the machine shop and witnessed some Dyno runs on the airforce kit that produced 6 hp and 8lbs of tq between 3500 and 6000 rpm and about 2 peak hp. That was just a carb and airbox mod. Test were run with w/bros pipe. stock with w/bros pipe then airforce kit and w/bros pipe. They have all the CNC equipment to manufactor all there own Prototype parts. There not just a fly by night company that has jumped into the market. Actually the market came to them and asked them to get involved

So, back to the question, did you hear it from him or from Polaris that this KTM motorcycle shop was hired by Polaris to develop the Predator engine? I guess I am just having trouble understanding why Polaris would pay him to develop engines to sell for his own profit.

I have been to the shop, I saw the R&D engines for Polaris. I know of a Pro factory rider from the Minn. area that has had his Predator there. I am sure there are some things the factory is not going to let him sale right now. Polaris is not in the engine modifaction business, they have no interest in that, so why should they care if he modifies Predator's, All the aftermarket shops will be, why should they limit him. I am sure they are going to maintain a competitive edge for the factory bikes.

Polaris hired him to develop the Predator engine, and some of the polaris factory guys have it in there bike now
Maybe I am not understanding you correctly. Are you saying Polaris hired him to develop the "stock" engine, or the "modified" engine. I was assuming you were saying Polaris hired him to modify the stock engine.

Polaris hired him to get the most out of the Predator engine, is my understanding. I think they tested several different combo's. stock bore with cam's and port work, 580 with mods. And i am sure they did alot he will not discuss with anyone outside Polaris. Rumor also has it that Gary and Polaris are developing a carbon fiber/plastic fender kits. that has not been verified or denied at this time. There is not any question that he is affiliated with the Polaris factory. I do know he had to have a protoype engine ready for them by march, Which was delivered on schedule. The guy is honest, he is not trying to pull something on everybody. He also has developed fix's for all the Predator problems, dragging brakes, hard shift, popping with w/bros pipe.

Polaris hired them to see how far the envelope could be pushed, without throwing reliability out the window. He isn't a development shop, or factory engine shop, but he is truthful in being contracted by them to push the envelope. SP700Racer, I'm firing up the grill, I'll eat chicken, since we both were kinda in the ballpark. In the interest of sales and promotion....he's stretching the truth, but there is truth there, so I've gotta give the guy credit. Sorry to doubt. By the way, if you think you've seen the last of Pure Polaris Predator gear.....guess again. Ding, ding, stand by for round two. What did you think they'd just sit back and slack? The best never sleep. Whoever you use for mods, ride hard, and enjoy!

got my air force kit from them. when i was on the phone with him he had a polaris head engineer there. gary said the engineer couldn't believe he got that much out of tweeking the carb so he flew in to see for himself and was amazed. they have been the absolute best people to talk to. when i called rath, he had no answers for me and it was like i was bothering him when i asked him questions, so that will be my last call to him. any questions i have gary takes the time out to answer them. i guess first impressions are everything
