Default replacing sparkplug

Does the front plastic and gas tank have to come off to get the plug out or is there another way? 2001 500 scrambler 2x4.

Some people say that you can get it off without taking the tank and palstic off. It would require the right tools and small hands. I had to take my tank and plastic off to get to mine though.

I know you would have to use a shorter socket than they supply in the tool kit because it doesnt fit between the tank and head.

Just take out the 2 screws by the seat(throttle side), the 3 screws on ft floorboard, the 2 srcews holding ft of exhust guard, and the 1 bolt under the fender. then you should be able to flex the plastic up and reach the little rubber strap holding gas tank. then you should be able to push the gas tank up to give you enough room to get your hand in there. It is still alot of work to change a plug.
