Default split break levers

Rick says he was selling the HPD brake split kit, but was having problems with the mastercylinder so he stopped carring them. HSP sells a kit ($190!), but I dont know anything about it. I too want to seperate my front & rear brakes.

Post any thing you find out about upgrading the brakes. Thanks

Default split break levers

Last i talked to rick they didn't have the split brake system. what i have done is as follows: front brakes are on the left handle and the rear are connect to the foot pedal. my bike has the old version mechanical / fluid rear caliper , other wise i would have used a set up from a Honda 250,300 or 400 right master cylinder etc. Go to partsland.com and the right side parts for a Honda is cheap. I flattrack race in the summer and i like this set up alot. On short track i use the front brake to help "set" the bike for the large sweeping corners - i have decreased my lap times by doing this. On TT's - hair pin turns - i can late brake into the turn - hit both brakes hard going in - let off the front, lock rear to turn sharp - then wide open on gas. this tactic helps me with 300 and 400ex's - if i do it right i usually can cut to the inside of them to pass in the corner and then pull away onthe straight. It works great for me and i like it when i trail ride.
later
