Default Modifying the 250 trailblazer?

CURB,

What main jet did you end up with? How does your plug look? How do you like the performance increase? It seems like more and more people are starting to mod the little old 250's. Thats good!! Its nice to see more of them out there. Most people cant believe that my 250 is a 250. Most people that see a TB thinks they are slow. I say NOT THIS ONE!!! later.

Curb, where did you get your wheels??? I can't find Douglas wheels for Polairs just ITP and they are expensive. I have a modded TrailBoss that has Ported cylinder, milled 0.020 off head, AAEN pipe, clutch kit, 34mm Scrambler carb conversion, UNI clamp-on, and it has been lightened. I have done a lot of work since the pics of it in my gallery.. I'll have to get some new ones. My next mod will be HPD pipe and clutch kit I don't like my AAEN I didn't gain a whole lot over stock, approx the same as the carb (2-3 HP) then I want to get some Aluminum wheels. The 250 has great potential but it has limits.

Default Modifying the 250 trailblazer?

Hey guys,
I ordered the rcr kit today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tommorow im gonna get my cylinder off to get ready to take to my dealer so he can bore it .020 over. Do you think my dealer would have any wiseco piston kits? I gave bubba a pm today about porting but he has'nt replied yet. And im pretty sure im gonna go with the 34mm carb, but im still not clear as to what to do with the "choke fitting". I think i know where the choke fitting is #7 on this diagram right? Carb Diagram And should i take the fitting off my stock 30mm carb and put it on the 34mm right? Thank you all for helping me through this, i'm sure there r more ?'s to come with the installation.

P.S.- how much power is this all going to give me?, what do i have to look forward to?, and how would this compare with a 300ex or a warrior?

mojave300ex, Rocky MT ATV has douglas red label rims for around $45 a piece. They are not on the website, but they are in their catalog.

Your dealer should more than likely have that piston, I know they will need it when boring it, so I would think they have it. 2Many will you verify that fitting?? I think that is the one you were talking about.. Bubba is gone this weekend riding at little sahara, you will probably hear from him later today or tomorrow, I promise he will get back to you ASAP.

Yes that is the fitting. But when you take the 30 mm carb off you need to take the fitting off of the cable also. The 30mm fitting will not work on the 34mm carb. Thats why I said that if you get a 34mm carb to make sure the fitting comes with it. The fitting looks the same from the outside but the threads are smaller on the 34mm. As for performance goes with a pipe, silencer, clutch kit, boring, porting and bigger carb you will be able to smoke a warrior and 300 ex. I pretty much have this setup with a little more done and they cant even catch me. These mods made a huge difference. You will have a gain of around 15hp. Stock is 22hp and with the mods will bring you up to around 35-36hp. The dealer should have a piston kit. There will be more questions about the installation so dont hesitate to ask. Good luck!!

CURB,

Moving the clip up will make it run leaner not rich. It will drop the needle to keep to much fuel from entering durring idle and low throttle positions. The needle only controlls the idle and low throttle position but you say it sputters in mid to WOT then you are still rich on the top. You have to go to a smaller main jet. The needle has nothing to do with half to WOT. Sounds like you are just about there.Try a 180 main. The object is to go as big as you can till it sputters then cut back till sputtering stops. Most people try to start small and work up but 9 times out of 10 it will be to lean. I think the 180 will do it for you.
