Scrammy Headlight Mod....
#11
I went with "aftermarket" automotive driving lights. I added a plate about 3 inches out and the length of the origional tub guard. Then I added another oval guard, identical to the origional on, and welded that to the plate. I think there are two or three supports between the tubs, with the plate welded between the tubes. Drilled holes for the lights, wired them up, and now can blaze dual 100watt lights. Stator does a good job, but if I'm just sitting around at idle, she starts to drain the battery. I plan on getting a sport hood where as I can use that center light as low beams, and my 100 watt ones as highs. Sort of gets ppl mad in town when I"m out plowing snow and they come around the corner and get blinded! When I"m doing this, I just disconnect one of the lights, so it's not too bad then. I'll get a detailed pic up as soon as they approve it.

The pics are in the Photo link, this is the 3rd year, and the lights are showing it with rust, but still work great! I guess that's what I get for driving it down the road in the salt and plowing with it. Oh well, she's getting all cleaned up this summer, is I can stop myself from spending more money on the Predator. Don't forget to check out the dirty pics of the Raptor and Predator! 4x4's eat my sludge!

He has everything, we replace them seasonally. Take them off for the summer then put em back in winter so we can ride the roads. He doesnt have the guard. Never bought it. I have it cuz i was fed up with replacing bulbs and lenses from him spray rocks all over me on our local railroad tracks. I was lookin at the Trail Tech hit as well...Thought that rather installing them on the handlebars that we could mount them to the frame on top of the housing for the suspension. Would this be a bad idea?

I modified my lights on both my 400 exp and my 600 sport, I installed a toggle switch that shorts the green and yellow wire in the harness from the handlebar. When I throw the switch it causes all three lights to be on at the same time, when off they operate normally. I've been running this mod on the explorer for three years with no problem. it's a perfect setup, low beams aimed in front of the machine and high beam where me handlebar is pointed. And NO it doesn't waer the battery down or burn out the alternator.
