Default CV Boot on 600 Sporty

I tore the rear outer boot on my 600 sporty and I was wondering what to use to get all the muddy water out of the joint? What solvent should I use before I repack it with grease?

Also, is there a special tool to get the clamps tight? I can't get it down onto the last notch.

Cheers,
INKMAN

lol, may sound stupid, but usually, i just use gas lol seems to do the trick, and i usually just use needle nose pliers, and had my friend who is like 300 lbs. do it lol, but the last time i did it, i had to do it myself, and found that using regualr pliers work good, just use the corners of them, maybe i just got lucky idk, but seemed to do the trick, also try vise grips, they may work, lol sounds kinda old fashion, but it works, dont need to spend all that money on them special tools to do it. need any more help just ask me.

Good luck, Haz!

I just used a flat head and pair of needle noses. You should be able to do it w/that.

Gas will wash the joint out, but PLEASE use something less flammable. Kerosene does just as good, and isn't nearly as dangerous.
I have had good luck tightening the clamps with a pair of 'mini' Channel-locks. They are only about 4 or 5 inches long, and the jaw is small enough to fit in there. They work well because you can open up the jaw setting, so that the jaws grab the little ear instead of trying to slip off.
Not too long ago, I bought some of the genuine article CV clamp pliers. They make the job EASY. If you are going to do this much, I would get a pair. They will even pay for themselves if you offer to help a buddy for a few bucks, or maybe some pizza & cokes.
