a grizzly 660 vs a 500 h.o. is not a fair comparison,
the grizzly will be slightly faster on top end and also quicker
through the powerband.
the comparison should be the grizzly 660 vs the
sp 700(683cc), then it would be a better comparison.
stock, the 660 would be a little quicker off the start
but after a couple hundred yards the 700 would pass
it as it has a little more top end.
now, with a good clutchkit the 700 would give it
a run for it's money at the start and beat the 660
worse at the end of a 200 yard sprint.
we're only talking a couple of mph difference in top end
between the two machines.

Snow ride is right,
There is no way a stock sp400 will do 60.
I have a non h.o. sp500 and it will only do
58...I have a 01 sp500 h.o. and it does 62-63 mph..
it's a good bit quicker than the non h.o. and has better
top end by 4-5 mph..
You're doing good to get 60 out of a non h.o. sp500,
it's on the same frame as a 400.. there is no way a 400
will do 60... more like 53-55.. the sp400 engine is not an h.o. engine.
your friends speedo could be reading 60, but it's probably
off a little.
I've ridden with several 500's and I never saw a stock
500 go over 60... (h.o. excluded). in fairness though,
I've only ridden with one 400 and it was no where near
60 on top end.

What mods do you have or how steep is the hill your going down? The speedo on the Grizz is one of the worst of all the brands and at those high speeds, if you compare it to a GPS, you will see it's 5 mph off. That will bring you down to the range I posted. I did say TRUE speed.
