Engine Swap?

Engine Swap?
Hi All . . .
I have a 96 Xplorer 400 2-stroke, but I need a 4 stroke machine.
I know that I can sell the bike and buy a new one. Getting $4000 . . . if I'm lucky . . . and plunking down another $5000 . . . is well . . . difficult right now.
I was thinking about an engine transplant of another 96 Polaris . . . a Magnum 425 as the chassis is the same and both riggs are chain drive?
I can then sell the 400 motor as it runs just fine . . . I just dont like the 2-stroke blue smoke.
Any comments? Anyone do it?

I see you have the machine I'm considering. You are correct in the fact that I would also need an exaust, carb, etc. Never thought about motor mounts though. I would almost have to put a 425 next to mine an do a visual.
If I could get a bashed 96 425 then the parts swap should be rather painless . . . depending on the motor mount thing.

Engine Swap?
I bought my Xplorer in late 1996. Up until about 18 months ago my wife and I used the bike with little problem. Since that time we have both developed chemical sensivities (not the illegal kind ) and are "allergic" to many man made chemicals including the 2-stroke blue smoke . . . even after the bike was tuned. Where 4 strokes are cleaner burning we dont have as much a problem with them.
It may just boild down to the fact that I will have to sell her - bike not wife - and buy a 4 stroker as getting a bashed doner 4 stroke may be difficult.
I have even thought of replacing the gasoline motor with an electric one from a forklift or some other similar vehicle. I believe that I could also eliminate the tranny as well as electric motors are high torque and are reversable. Battery storage may be the problem . . . unless I hook up some soar panels . . . Hmmm.
